Michael Esterl

Michael Esterl

Deeply motivated and always looking for a new challenge, Michael joins Bluetree after excelling in multiple Epic roles in his already illustrious career. Leading large, complex projects is like clockwork for this workflow wizard, who most recently was the VP of Epic at Mercy Health in Cincinnati. In his Epic days, Michael led implementations for some of the most complex, integrated projects in the company's history through his "never good enough" mentality and his affinity for solving integrated problems. Today, this Evergreen, Coloradan is a member of our Executive Strategy team and assists healthcare IT leaders navigate the technical and political structures involved in software installations and optimization efforts.

Melissa Bruss

Melissa Bruss

Melissa is an experienced leader in healthcare program and project delivery, including responsibilities for PMO governance, standards, and investment review. She developed these skills through her five years at Epic and in hospital and health plan organizations both internationally and across the US. She has worked with all levels, from front-line staff to reporting to the CIO. Her ability to connect with and lead teams are key to her ability to make her clients successful. Some notable Epic projects under her management include a Service Area consolidation and a merger of separate customer Epic instances. In her operational roles outside of Epic, she’s led the development of governance and processes for corporate project investments and was the Business Office Manager for an insurance line of business focused on acquisition.

Genuinely trustworthy and an expert active listener, Jeanne’s understanding of Epic workflow and health care transformation was molded during her 18 years at Renown Health in Reno, NV prior to joining Bluetree. Now as our growth strategy whiz, Jeanne assists clients with planning and navigating the complex opportunities that most healthcare organizations inevitably face. Jeanne’s experience at Renown Health ranged from web development in her early days and morphed into a director-level role encompassing all IT applications at Renown as well as their affiliated partners. Jeanne joined Bluetree in 2016.

Stephen Beck, MD

Stephen Beck, MD

Quick with an answer yet calm in his demeanor, Stephen adds an unmatched amount of operational know-how to Bluetree’s Solutions team. Most recently the CMIO at Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Stephen is as knowledgeable as they come in mapping system capabilities to Epic functionality. An Internal Medicine physician, a recognized public speaker, and an active member in the HIMSS community, Stephen has worked with Epic for more than 20 years and is an expert in engaging executives and clinicians through innovative process redesign. When not hiking with a camera in hand or reading up on the latest in HIE, telehealth, or population health, you’ll find him intimately and gracefully identifying operational inefficiencies with everyone from the C-suite to the physicians.

Tosha Kowalski

Tosha Kowalski

Tosha is a highly qualified Epic leader with both analyst and manager experience. During her eight years at Epic, she obtained a wealth of knowledge managing large implementation projects, successfully taking them from strategic planning through go-live and post-live optimization. She effectively installed EpicCare Ambulatory at four new Enterprise clients and two Ambulatory Suite-only clients, planned and managed two large EpicCare Ambulatory rollouts, and served as the Implementation Coordinator for a large, highly successful academic install. With seven certifications, she possesses a strong integrated knowledge of workflows within Epic applications. Tosha recently walked nearly 5,000 miles across the country by completing thru-hikes of the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails. The effort required determination, dedication, and an ability to constantly think outside the box. Tosha brings to the table a remarkable combination of creative energy, system knowledge, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Jason Hoesly

Jason Hoesly

Jason is a former Epic Project Manager and an accomplished, innovate IT professional leading Bluetree’s Clinical Optimization team. Keen at aligning effective workflow processes alongside business principles and processes, Jason was most recently the Senior Healthy Planet Analyst Consultant at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. At Rush, he led the implementation of Healthy Planet, designed and created custom registry metrics and quality measures, and implemented a risk stratification process for identifying patients with potential high care management needs. Prior to Rush, Jason collaborated with senior leadership at Bon Secours to develop the clinical decision support team. His ability to implement clinical end user dashboard strategy into organizations and his proficiency in integrating the Epic InPatient application with OpTime, Radiant, Ambulatory, ASAP, ADT, HIM, Willow, Hospital Billing, and Professional Billing makes him one of the more flexible Epic project managers in the industry.

Charlie Bauer

Charlie Bauer

As a Revenue Cycle Solutions team member, Charlie leverages six years of experience serving as a technical and operational project manager for Epic clients. Prior to Bluetree, he worked for Epic as both a Resolute Hospital Billing project manager and trainer. While at Epic, Charlie’s peers voted to award him the Capstone Award – the highest honor an implementer can receive on an Epic install. Charlie’s certifications include Resolute HB, Resolute PB, SBO, Grand Central, and Prelude. Charlie has worked across the country as a trainer, technical implementer, and operational leadership advisor for HB and PB implementations, post-live optimizations, and training area overhauls. Charlie is a proponent for high-quality delivery standards, educating executive leaders, and partnering with clients to seek meaningful process and technical improvements by challenging status quo mentalities.

Louis Ledder

Louis Ledder

Louis has over seven years of healthcare IT and operations experience, including two and a half years at Epic. As a consultant, Louis has worked on a wide variety of optimization and upgrade projects. His breadth of experience includes Registration, Eligibility, ADT / Grand Central, Referrals, Cadence, Hospital Billing, and Tapestry. He has a deep understanding of how these applications integrate with one another within revenue cycle and the broader Epic ecosystem. Louis has also worked on operational projects to improve the productivity and quality of specialized teams, including registration, authorization, insurance verification, and financial counseling.

Jamie Chong

Jamie Chong

As a member of the Revenue Cycle team, Jamie uses her knowledge from over five years of healthcare IT experience to help customers improve their use of Access applications and find ways to increase efficiency, productivity, and revenue. During her four years on the Access implementation team at Epic, she helped streamline processes for implementing revenue cycle edits and was a formative influence on the development of the Patient Estimates and Benefit Collection modules. In addition to her time at Epic, Jamie led several implementations of Experian's Orders products at Epic organizations. Her further experience in marketing and communications outside of the healthcare IT industry contributed to an affinity for clear, precise, and aesthetically appealing documentation. Jamie thrives in collaborative spaces, doing excellent work with others to make a meaningful impact on healthcare.

Jacob Sinex

Jacob Sinex

With double-digit Epic certifications and over a decade in healthcare analytics, Jacob has a unique breadth and depth of experience to provide thoughtfully considered solutions with long-term viability. As an Analytics Specialist, Jacob focuses on using best practice methods, growing his developer toolset, sharing knowledge, and continually learning. His subject matter expertise in reporting encompasses most Epic clinical applications, especially as they relate to research analytics and population health management. Jacob thrives when faced with difficult problems that require creative thinking, a team-based approach, and push the boundaries of what an Epic-based system can do.

Matt Kesler

Matt Kesler

As an Analytics Developer, Matt uses his professional experience and Masters of Health Administration degree to look for new solutions through analytics. Matt has three years of direct experience in reporting and thrives at creating custom data models and real-time dashboards. Matt is certified in the OpTime Clarity Data Model, with additional experience in Resolute Hospital Billing, Cadence, Anesthesia, and several other data models. In his previous role, Matt was a project manager and successfully implemented an Agile Scrum methodology, which allowed for improved efficiency in fulfilling project requests. Matt also serves as a mentor and has a proven track record of success, helping junior team members grow in their understanding of analytics and Clarity report writing.

Pavel Tseytlovskiy

Deeply analytical and memorably engaging, Pavel brings a unique background in operations research engineering to Bluetree’s Solutions team. Pavel has broad technical experience in finance, software development, reporting and data analysis in Epic client settings. Naturally curious, he’s quick to adopt new technology and figure out creative ways to yield actionable business intelligence. When not queuing up operationalized solutions for Bluetree’s clients, Pavel can be found at home in San Diego sporting clothes from his signature retro (and wacky) t-shirt collection or practicing for his impending standup comedy career.

Amanda Blatz

Amanda Blatz

As a Client Experience Manager, Amanda works closely with clients and the Managed Services team to ensure our team is delivering a high-quality solution that is meeting the client's needs. She also continues to work on the Inpatient application side of things. Amanda first started working with EpicCare Inpatient during her time as an Epic Implementer, when she helped several organizations (in and outside of the US) go live with Epic's Inpatient and HOD functionality. Amanda is certified in Orders, Clin Doc, Infection Control, and MyChart and most enjoys coming up with unique solutions that best fit complicated workflows.

As a Remote Solutions Analyst, Jennie has over 15 years of healthcare experience. She began her career working as a CMA (AAMA) and eventually moved into the IT as an EpicCare Ambulatory analyst. After moving into Cadence and User Security, she eventually became the leader of all Clinical Applications. With her background and certifications, Jennie can work through challenges and requests to present creative solutions that bring workflow visions to fruition. While in her management role, she was able to mentor staff and execute projects while helping others become even better analysts and gain confidence in themselves. Jennie is certified in EpicCare Ambulatory, Cadence, Welcome, MyChart, Prelude Administration, Radiant, Security, Referrals, and holds the SER Badge. While her passion is in Cadence, Security, and Ambulatory workflows, she is always up for a new challenge and enjoys being able to use her skills anywhere she can.

As a huge data nerd and a life-long learner, Stephanie Fan currently uses her knowledge and varied skills to support reporting needs across all Epic applications and then some. She was an EpicCare Ambulatory TS from 2006 - 2012 and has over 12 years’ experience working in healthcare IT. Experiencing the sea change before and following the HITECH Act, she firmly believes that clean data integration is more important than ever to achieve targets and enable informed decision-making.

Anne Hyland

Anne Hyland

Anne found the perfect trifecta while working at Epic. Her experience in training and development, her unique project management skillset, and her passion for healthcare makes her one of our most dynamic Blueleaves. In her six years at Epic, Anne helped more than 30 organizations design and execute end-user training programs. Combining this Epic experience with her time as a Learning Consultant and Change Management Lead allows her to offer a wide breadth of solutions and execution plans. Anne easily builds rapport and is comfortable in any room, whether it’s working with trainers, analysts, clinicians, or C-suite executives. Her passion for finding the right solution for each situation is what brought her to Bluetree. She knows that a strong training program can improve adoption, end-user happiness, efficiency, and overall return on investment. From finding ways to optimize training and focus on advanced initiatives, rebuilding training environments to support more efficient training, or providing guidance for staffing solutions or sequencing initiatives, Anne is ready, willing, and eager to work with our clients to meet their challenges.

Jessie uses her previous experience as an end user to make meaningful connections and get to the root of the problem. She understands how to deliver accurate, high-quality training and realizes the effect it has on end user acceptance and adoption. Epic awarded her for working outside of her team to coordinate the creation of clinically robust patients for specialty-specific Training Wheels. She’s not afraid to try new and creative solutions and genuinely enjoys a good training challenge. That determination and positive attitude is a big reason why she is often brought in to help teams finish their materials and environment build under pressure. It’s also why she seems to be handling her toddler’s budding independence in stride.

Katie Freeman

Professionally poised and personally invested, Katie’s sweet spots are sharing knowledge and baking. At Epic, she flourished as a training project manager and application trainer and where she received their “Jim Henson award” for clever problem solving and new process/tool creation. As our education ninja, Katie partners with clients to identify creative and flexible solutions, and she is largely responsible for Bluetree’s reputation for stellar training. Katie has a knack for capitalizing on team strengths to design training programs that scale across many platforms. Katie’s degrees in education and library science complement her experience in planning, strategy, environment building, and trainer development as she continues to find new ways to deliver the right training at the right time.

Tom Miller

Tom Miller

Tom uses his diverse background in IT to help customers maximize their technical resources both within their Epic implementation and outside of it. During his 20 years in IT—14 of which have been in healthcare and 11 of which involve experience with Epic —Tom has been an application developer, a database administrator, and a designer of long-range strategies for IT infrastructure at large healthcare organizations. He has worked in Information Security and led teams of SQL DBA's, Epic security administrators, environment managers, and interface engineers. He has been a key contributor to the implementation of a new claims management system for a large regional payor and experienced several Epic upgrades at a large healthcare organization. Tom enjoys analyzing technical issues and coming up with ideas that are inside and outside the box, either by providing high-level planning or rolling up his sleeves and solving issues directly.

Stuart Borders

Stuart is an experienced technical project manager and software developer with more than 10 years of success implementing and supporting complex healthcare software systems. During his seven and a half years at University of Arizona Health Network and Banner Health, Stuart completed numerous client interface and conversion projects and supported every aspect of HL7 interfaces, ranging from software design and development to quality assurance, customer support, and implementation. Stuart constantly challenges himself to grow technically and is quick to master new skills. Whether performing in an analyst or lead role, he adds immense value to any team he is a part of with his technical knowledge and collaborative approach.

James Soler

James Soler

James is a dynamic and seasoned Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) with more than 10 years of systems support, application deployment, and project management experience. James supported Epic go-lives and upgrades in his work as an ECSA with Community First Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Dallas Methodist Health System. His recent work includes a focus on network administration, software installation and support, and hardware maintenance. Most recently at Community First Medical Center, James was integral in helping CFMC build Citrix servers and environments, configure Cache servers, and go live in just three months.
